I hope you've enjoyed this musical journey through time...I'm going to leave you with my proudest achievement...taping Jerry Lawson and Talk Of The Town at Yoshi's 3 weeks ago...aint' God great

my all time favorite version of this toon is by the Chambers Brothers...I'm gonna track down Lester Chambers and ask him why they have no version on YouTube...it makes no sense to keep wonderful music off YouTube over copywrite disputes...

I'm wonderin' if it's ever gonna stop rainin'...

I've been living in an RV park, in the same space for about 16 years now, my lady, Cathy has been working part time in the office here for at least 10 of those years...she's well liked by all and especially the foreign visitors we get. She's particularly attentive to their safe adventures, gathering the San Francisco experience to take home with them. Consequently, they often bring us the remains of their temporary suplies, ie., food, alchohol, whatever they can't or don't wish to leave the country with. On one recent occasion, a fella, from Australia, brought us a case of Dos Equies Beer, a bottle of Sambuca di Amore, a licorice flavored liquor, and half a bottle of Makers Mark with a price tag of $33.99

being a humble veteran of the south, I had been drinking "Blended Wiskey" all my adult life, as it happens in the south, when you order Bourbon, they offer you Seagrams 7, V.O, Crown Royal, all blend whiskeys...I was informed that these were not Bourbons, but blends at a local watering hole by a seasoned mixologist, by the name of "Bobby", who was working at a wonderful bar by the name of "Izzy's" right here in River City. I sampled this "Makers Mark", with a Coke back and found it tasty in the extreme...I have a couple of shots every night before bed and I'm happy to report that the numbness in my legs that used to keep me up half the night, and the ensuing insomnia are long gone. I now sleep like a baby...I'm not suggesting anything, we're all captains of our own ship and must act accordingly

...

let me turn you on to a guy that's had a rock and roll talk show for 30 some-odd years out of Santa Monica, California...it's called Art Fein's Poker Party and through the years he's interviewed many of my favorite people in the music business...I even bought one of his books...the feature he opens his monthly installment with is "what was the first record you bought, and what was your first concert...my first record was "Hound Dog",
"Don't be Cruel". my first concert was in 1957, Houston, Texas, Alan Freed, Chuck Berry, The Coasters, Bo Diddley, Laverne Baker, Paul Anka, The Platters, and others I can't recall.  Art is obsessed with Elvis Presley and has an annual birthday party for him...check him out, and look in on him regularly, he's been delighting me for years now...check out the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame

when I first got into radio, the year 1971, it was at San Francisco, the station, KMPX, with a group of the best and brightest in the world of free-form radio, my guys followed in the footsteps of Tom Donahue, who left KMPX and took his un-format to KSAN, probably the finest example of free form radio of all time...my guys came in a "screamin" second...the un-format flew in the face of contemporary radio in that as opposed to playing the same Top 40 songs over and over, which catered to the record industry, an industry that was too greedy and lazy to expand on their business model...as a matter of fact, there would not be the world of rock and roll today were it not for the paragons of Top 40 radio...that's how we learned to receive the music...but don't get me started...I was just going to say, I wonder where to go from Imelda May as far as a segue goes...a "segue" being the melting of a toon into the next toon without interupting the listeners groove...what would you play? I'll go with

here's my favorite Rockabilly hottie...Imelda May

I had to postpone taping Phil and The Continentals...but will try again on the 6th of March at 19 Broadway...my old stomping grounds...it was a good show though and the chili was great...

on the 9th, Dori Green, Ed Earley and yours truly (diamond ed) went on a field trip to Buzzerkly and dropped in on Joan Hill to attend a screening of a documentary about her and her partner, the late, great, Leon Collins...I just sort of threw them in together and I have to say they got on famously...

here's another installment of Swing'n In Buzzerkeley

here's a clip of Leon Collins dancing late in his life...that's Joan Hill on the piano...

as you may have noticed I have somehow managed to lose 20 days of posts...it's gonna take me all day to restore them so now's a great time to listen to Jerry Lawson and Talk Of The Town at Yoshi's in San Francisco...exactly 3 weeks ago

so here we go again...I taped a couple of their toons last Thursday the 17th at the Presideo Yacht Club at Fort Baker...

on a wicked stormy night last week, I finally got to tape one of my favorite singer-songwriter-guitar players and I'm afraid I was a little too close to the stage for my mike to get a balanced audio and too it's bad manners to introduce any unnatural light to such a tranquil scene...I felt like I had gone back in time a hundred years and all of this could have been set around a campfire...

on Friday the eleventh...I attempted to tape the David Nelson Band at The Palm Banquet Room in San Rafael...i say I tried meaning the distance I had to be from the stage was greater than my camera could overcome...however, when I deleted the files from YouTube I started getting all kinds of email praising the clips and would I please re-post them...don't fix it if it aint' broke...

on the 10th I taped my old friend Tyrone White and The Hitmen at The Presideo Yacht Club...

on the 9th, Dori Green, Ed Earley and yours truly (diamond ed) went on a field trip to Buzzerkly and dropped in on Joan Hill to attend a screening of a documentary about her and her partner, the late, great, Leon Collins...I just sort of threw them in together and I have to say they got on famously...I'll have the rest of this "experience" as soon as i get caught up...

Well I heard the joyful noise for myself last night, Jerry Lawson and Talk Of The Town...I had the time of my life taping a live show...David Gans was there and I saw him walking around from the balcony where I was setting up my gear, but I was too busy to go down and meet him...he's one of my heros and plays with Jerry from time to time...here's a clip of a song he wrote that really smokes...

I've been taping Jerry Lawson and Talk Of The Town in rehearsals for their show tomorrow night at Yoshi's San Francisco...I've been a Jerry Lawson junkie since 1971 when he climbed out of a limo in Denver, with the Persuasions and singin' all the way into the station and up the elvevator...they never missed a beat...sang right into the control room and commenced to mesmerize our audience for over an hour...Now all of these years later I had a chance to listen to him and his new group, Talk Of The Town for two days while running back and forth and tending cameras and changing tape...sadly I won't be able to publish any of the material until their lawyer has seen it and made a legal determination as to whether they can use it...as a result of my efforts I may just get to shoot them live at Yoshi's tomorrow nite...they require a 5 day notice if you plan to video tape your show and then there are conditions to be met if you want to use the material for any commercial purpose, fees have to be paid in advance etc., so I won't know until tomorrow but I sure hope it works out...David Gans, one of my favorite gutitar players on the planet will be there recording the sound for them and I would sure love to meet him...here's a clip, shot in Arizona a couple of years back...see what you think...
